Dr. Joe Harris – Retired/Advisor
Executive Vice President of Westway Feed Products, LLC.
Dr. Harris earned his PhD at the University of Florida in 1981. While at the U of F he studied animal nutrition with special emphasis on nitrogen and energy utilization in beef cattle. Upon graduation he immediately became involved in the commercial feed industry with emphasis on regulatory affairs, quality programs, process documentation and controls, new product development, technical sales support and commercial business management. During his tenure in the feed industry he has authored 8 process/product approved patents, one approved New Animal Drug Application and several Veterinary Master Files.
Dr. Harris joined Westway Feed Products in 1992. Since then he has helped to push the company’s growth from two U.S. locations to currently twenty-eight plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
He is integral Westway Feed Products’ research and product development. Dr. Harris has led the Technical and Research Department to be an industry leader. Under Dr. Harris’ leadership, Westway has expanded its product lines and developed products to meet the needs of the dairy, beef and feed yard industry segments in all regions.
